What I can help with
I am a qualified
integrative counsellor which just means I am trained in several different
methods of counselling, the therapy approaches I use are,
Person-centred counselling,
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or C.B.T and Psychodynamic therapy.
Being able to call upon
different approaches enables me to tailor my support to your specific
individual needs, which
gives you a better understanding
of yourself and your situation so you can make the changes you need
for healing and acceptance, and a more positive future and outcome.
Person-centred counselling
works with the values of empathy for the person and what they are going
through, by being honest, genuine and
authentic with that person while
giving them the respect they deserve and listening to their story (no matter
what they bring).
C.B.T. helps us to
understand how our thoughts and feelings influence our behaviour,
it identifies patterns of
behaviour that may no longer be helpful and offers insights into more helpful
perspectives and ways of being.
Psychodynamic therapy looks
at how the past has influenced us, our values and beliefs and shaped the person
we are today.
I also work with creative
methods such as ‘Timelines’ to trace back past events or traumas and how they
have shaped us.
I use ‘Russian Dolls’ (Matryoshka) to explore self-identity and inner child issues
and to promote self-compassion.
I believe that our overall
wellbeing has a huge impact on our mental health and vice versa, as part of my
therapy process,
I will ask you to consider
your self-care if your wellbeing needs are being met
by asking:
How are you sleeping?
Are you hydrating enough?
How’s your nutrition?
Are you managing to
exercise regularly?
What about socializing and
fun pursuits?
Do you have any engaging
hobbies?
All of these things fall
down our list of priorities when we are struggling with life, but they are
important, they nourish and support us in challenging times.
I can support you to make the
small changes in these areas that will make a big difference.
